Children will be working on front and back floats, blowing bubbles, kicking, and introducing the front crawl. The objective of the class is to give students success with swimming. Children must be able to comfortably put their faces in the water for a three-second count. * Prerequisites: Successful demonstration of the Learn to Swim Level 1 exit skills learned in Level 1 assessment LEVEL 3: Stroke DevelopmentBuild on skills learned in levels 1 and 2 to help participants achieve basic water competency in a pond environment. Students are introduced to the elementary backstroke and treading water. They also learn to coordinate and improve the front crawl and backstroke. Some jumping into the water will be introduced. * Prerequisites: Successful demonstration of the learn to swim Level 2 exit skills assessment Level 4: Stroke ImprovementImprove participants' proficiency in performing the swimming strokes introduced in Level 3. Students work on improving their strokes and increasing their endurance. We will review the elementary backstroke, front crawl, back crawl, treading water, and shallow diving. The instructor will introduce breaststroke, sidestroke, and rhythmic breathing. * Prerequisites: Successful demonstration of the Learn to Swim Level 3 exit skills assessment LEVEL 5: Stroke RefinementHelp participants refine their performance of all six swimming strokes. Summer Youth Tennis in the Parks with USTA - (Grades 3-8) - Summer Youth Tennis in the Parks with USTA - Session I: June 30th - July 16th, Grades (3 - 5) Join us for summer fun with Tennis! The Orleans Recreation Department has partnered with the USTA New England to offer YOUTH Tennis in the Parks at the OES courts.This program is led by a USTA-approved tennis coach and is designed to teach players how to play tennis using modified balls, age-appropriate rackets, and court sizes. It offers engaging activities to make learning fun and successful. Additionally, all players attending their first session will receive an age-appropriate racket and ball to take home.Sessions 1 and 2 will be held on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Each session is three weeks long and includes six (6) classes. Summer Youth Tennis in the Parks with USTA - (Grades 3-8) - Summer Youth Tennis in the Parks with USTA - Session I: June 30th - July 16th, Grades (6 - 8) Join us for summer fun with Tennis! The Orleans Recreation Department has partnered with the USTA New England to offer YOUTH Tennis in the Parks at the OES courts.This program is led by a USTA-approved tennis coach and is designed to teach players how to play tennis using modified balls, age-appropriate rackets, and court sizes. It offers engaging activities to make learning fun and successful. Additionally, all players attending their first session will receive an age-appropriate racket and ball to take home.Sessions 1 and 2 will be held on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Each session is three weeks long and includes six (6) classes. Students work on improving their strokes and increasing their endurance. We will review the elementary backstroke, front crawl, back crawl, treading water, and shallow diving. The instructor will introduce breaststroke, sidestroke, and rhythmic breathing. * Prerequisites: Successful demonstration of the Learn to Swim Level 3 exit skills assessment LEVEL 5: Stroke RefinementHelp participants refine their performance of all six swimming strokes. This class is designed for advanced swimmers looking to improve their strokes: front crawl, bilateral breathing, back crawl with body roll, breaststroke using glides, side stroke with an inverted kick, and other fun advanced skills. * Prerequisites: Successful demonstration of the Learn to Swim Level 4 exit skillsLEVEL 6: EnduranceThis class is for advanced swimmers who have passed Level 5. It endorses swimming and increasing distances every day. During the program, an endurance swimming test will be given.*Please note that the Orleans Recreation Department prioritizes the health and safety of each participant. A Lifeguard will be present during instruction to monitor the swim lesson area only. All other beachgoers, swimmers, and bathers are "Swim At Your Own Risk."
