Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
- How do I register and pay for a program?
Orleans Recreation, Culture & Community Events uses com as its registration system. Create your household account so you're ready for future program registrations.
- Log into your account. If you do not have one, create a New Account.
- Click on the Register icon at the top of your account, or click Register from the navigation bar, and select a program.
- Click "Register Now" or "Register” (selected member) next to the desired activity.
- Choose your program.
- Click “Register Now.”
- Check the box next to the names of any member you wish to register.
- Click “Add to Cart”.
- Once added to the cart, you will get options to "Return to the Program," "Continue Shopping" (if you need to add other items to the cart), or "Check Out" if you are ready to process.
- Click “Check Out” to review your shopping cart, then “Continue” to move forward with your order.
- Choose “Check Out Online” when available and proceed with credit card payment.
Please note: Payment in full is required at the time of registration.
- How do I find program information?
Visit our Orleans Recreation, Culture & Community Events website at orleansrecreation.com or call 508-240-3700 ext. 2333. You can explore our website for youth & adult programs, community activities, and cultural/special events.
- What forms of payment does Orleans Recreation accept?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. We do not accept American Express.
Please note: We do not accept cash or checks as payment.
- Does Orleans Recreation offer financial assistance?
Yes! Financial assistance may be available to Orleans residents for youth programs through the Orleans Recreation, Culture & Community Events Fee Waiver Program.
Financial assistance is available up to $200 per child, per season, if:
- You (the parent or legal guardian) are an Orleans resident.
- Your child/children are eligible for the free or reduced lunch programs, or you or your child/children received other government vouchers for services such as: SNAP, TAFDC (Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children), MassHealth, etc.)
Please note: To receive financial assistance, you must provide documentation (a letter of acceptance for the voucher program, a free and reduced lunch letter, etc.).
- Does Orleans Recreation offer any discounts?
The Orleans Recreation Department has a newly adopted discount program, which started in the Spring of 2025. The program is as follows:
- There will be a 50% sibling discount applied to all non-vendor-based programs. This 50% discount for the program is applicable for up to 4 children maximum from the same household.
Please note: This sibling discount is exclusively available to residents of the Town of Orleans. This discount does not apply to the Summer Playground and Just Try It programs, which will offer a sibling discount of only $25 for the Town of Orleans residents from the same household.
- For programs that involve a coach or volunteer, the head coach/volunteer will have their child's fee waived for the program.
Please note: If the fee is waived for the head coach/volunteer's child, they will not be eligible for the 50% sibling discount. If you plan on being a head coach/volunteer, please call the Recreation Office prior to Registration.
- All non-resident Town of Orleans employees will have their fees adjusted to reflect those of resident fees.
- When can I use the pickleball courts?
Use of the pickleball courts shall be subject to control by the Orleans Recreation, Culture & Community Events Department.
- Year-Round, courts are reserved from 7am – 11am for Orleans Recreation, Culture & Community Events, Early Bird Fitness, & Pickleball Round Robin programs.
- Any additional Recreation Department Programs will take precedence over open play. The department may offer instructional clinics, classes, tournaments, league pickleball, and special events.
- Are pickleball courts free for public use?
- Outside of hours where the courts are in use by the Recreation Department, the public may use the courts free of charge on a first-come first-serve basis.
- What are the rules of the Pickleball Courts?
- A single player waiting for the arrival of their party may not hold a court if other players are waiting to use it.
- Play is limited to one hour only if others are waiting to play.
- No private Pickleball instructions may be given at any time.
- All players are always expected and required to wear proper attire and sneakers.
- Street shoes and sandals are not allowed. Be aware that the court surface may be slippery.
- No bicycles, tricycles, skateboards, rollerblades, skates, scooters, baby carriages, baby strollers, or pets are allowed.
- The courts shall only be used for playing pickleball.
- Sitting or leaning on the nets is damaging to the nets and net straps and is strictly prohibited.
- Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in and around the Orleans Pickleball Courts.
- There are no lights at this facility.
- The Town of Orleans assumes no liability for injuries to persons who are on the Town Premises or for damage to any equipment or property.
Please note: No reservation or fee is required to utilize the courts during open play hours.
- When can I use the tennis courts?
- The use of the tennis courts shall always be subject to control by the Orleans Recreation, Culture & Community Events Department.
- Any additional Recreation Department Programs will take precedence over open play. The Recreation Department may offer instructional clinics, classes, tournaments, league tennis, and special events.
- Orleans Elementary School Courts
- September through June, courts are available Monday – Friday from 3pm to dusk, Saturday from 12pm to dusk, and Sunday from 8am, to dusk.
- July through August, courts are available Monday – Friday from 12pm to dusk. Saturday from 12pm to dusk, and Sunday from 8am, to dusk.
- September through June, courts are available Monday – Friday from 8am to dusk, Saturday from 12pm to dusk, and Sunday from 8am to dusk.
- July and August, courts are available Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8am to dusk. Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am to dusk.
- Are tennis courts free for public use?
- Outside of hours where the courts are in use by the Recreation Department, the public may use the courts free of charge.

- Can I rent the 44 Main Street Community Building?
Yes! Some restrictions may apply. All Community Building reservations depend on available building space. All groups must pay rental fees except those sponsored by the Town of Orleans departments, boards, and committees.
