Coaches Handbook

The Orleans Recreation Department values its volunteer coaches and recognizes their vital role in the physical and social development of our youth sports participants. We commend and thank our volunteers for the interest, sacrifice, and commitment they make to our children, and programs, as well as the positive impact they have on the overall quality of life in our community. Our paramount concern is the safety and sportsmanship of our players. To ensure the protection of our participants and volunteers, all coaches are subject to the following requirements:
  • Review and agree to the volunteer coaching policies and procedures below
  • Complete and pass the CORI and SORI applications
  • Heads Up Concussion Course - HEADS UP | HEADS UP | CDC

  • Prior to finalizing a rescheduled game, coaches must first confirm field availability with the Recreation Department. Coaches are responsible for contacting their team of any changes made to the schedule
  • Coaches should never leave a child alone at the conclusion of a practice or game
  • Private one–on–one coaching sessions with children are strictly prohibited
  • Practices conducted outside of the designated times, dates, and locations are strictly prohibited
  • Only coaches approved by the Town of Orleans are permitted to participate in games/practices.
